Explanation of your Suggestion:
Add a oil job place in the new small island

Why are you suggesting this?
So it's a bit easier for new people to actually do oil instead of doing it on the main island, Since some people don't own boats and some people aren't working as boat transports. Maybe have another npc that you can get the oil job in small island too.

it would be nice for you to be able to get the job on the northern island but having everything over on that island just makes it too easy.

After reviewing your suggestion it has been partially accepted by the management team. We intend to make it so that you no longer require the oil job to use the pump jack.

Thank you for your suggestion! In the next update, Version 3.5, the oil job will no longer be required for you to use the Pumpjack.
